Selecting a Pair of Goal Keeper Gloves

Defined Tag: Goal Keeper Gloves.
Since goal keepers are the single players allowed hand contact with a soccer ball, goal keeper gloves become very important. Goal keeper gloves protect the hands of keepers in soccer games throughout the world. During the 1970's is when keepers started to be required to wear gloves. Keeper gloves are worn primarily for protection. However, they do aid in the ball sticking to the hands of the keeper.
Gloves need to be the appropriate size for the keeper's hands. Gloves that are too big will not allow fingers and palms to move and manipulate properly. The gloves help to protect wrists, fingers, and palms so the blow of the ball doesn't damage them.
The first keeper gloves were constructed from cotton. Unfortunately the cotton absorbed water which made them slick and offered little protection against the hit of the ball. Gloves aren't always big an clunky anymore. There are alot of styles that are constructed to be light as a feather and latex is used for palm protection.
Excellent palm construction is the main consideration when purchasing keeper gloves. The palms need to be adequately padded while still allowing the keeper to grip the ball sufficiently. Many gloves are designed with a blend of latex and foam for comfort and bend ability. Gloves that are embossed at many places on the glove allow flexibility of movement with the gloves. Some keeper gloves have an air vent system that adds to the overall comfort. Thumb notches prevent the gloves from pulling apart. Vents along the side of the gloves make them more temperate when the weather is hotter.
Accurate measurements for gloves ensure a right fit and afford comfort and protection. To properly measure for keeper gloves figure the length going around the palm at the widest area. Then add one inch to be sure the gloves will fit right.
